Our prayers go to your wife Kathy and family. We had lots of fun bicycle riding, especially in Lancaster, PA. and other rides. You were quite a sailor crew, and a good one.

Steve was a good friend at Purdue. He was in my wedding in 1972. I moved away and we lost touch shortly thereafter. He was a wonderful person with a great smile. My condolences to his family.

Steve and I were good friends! We both worked for Indiana Department of Transportation for a lot of years! But most importantly, we both had a desire to bicycle the country. We took bicycle trips in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa and North Dakota. We would park the cars, and take off on a week of bicycling/camping! Several occasions we were joined by friends Gary Shelburne and John Healy.
Life was good! I have it that Steve will be bicycling around Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, one of our favorite rides, for eternity! Hope we can all meet together again for that trip of a lifetime! God Bless you Steve for being such a good friend!

Steve was a wonderful “Thistle” sailing friend for many years not only weekends at ISC but we spent many hours with him during Regatta trips. He was a fellow camper and lover of the outdoors. We cherish the fond memories we have of him. Our prayers go out to you, Kathy, and all of his family.

Steve was our fellow Thistle sailor and long time family friend. He sailed with My Dad for awhile, and was a pleasure to know, both on and off the Sailing waters. Sending my Condolences to Kathy and Family.

Thinking of you today Kathy and all the wonderful memories of Steve and his sailing adventures with my mom and dad, the “sail’n Whalens” for probably close to twenty years. Of course my dad loved him dearly and enjoyed having him as crew on the Thistle every weekend during sailing season. He was the best! Some of my fondest memories were at Christmas when I came in to town for the holidays. My mom and dad had Kathy and Steve over for our traditional lasagne dinner. We enjoyed sharing gifts, always talking sailing and all those close races! And of course Steve and I had our forever bouts of teasing as to which University was the best, Indiana or Purdue! Well, I’m just proud to be a Hoosier (GO IU!)
It was so wonderful to have Steve as part of our family.

My heart goes out to you Kathy during this difficult time. I know how much Steve meant to Dad as his #1 crew during Thistle racing for 20 years or more. He was always willing to go the extra mile and Dad and Mom thought of him as another son.
I remember Steve always sharing his biking stories and loving the out of doors. He will be missed and prayers are with you Kathy.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories and great adventures racing with Dad and Mom. I rememberspcial times during the X-mas holidays very special.

My prayers are with Kathy and family. Steve was a good friend and former (retired) co-worker with the Indiana Department of Transportation. I worked with him for approximately 9 and 1/2 years with then the Local Transportation section. He was an excellent civil engineer and found the good in everyone.
He will be missed!

My prayers are with Kathy and family. Steve and I worked together in The Local Assistance Area of INDOT. (It had many different names while we were there.) He was a great engineering help to his area of the state and helped the others working in the other areas.
